Nothing To Fear About Tunisia, Amodu Tells Nigerians
- Players Hit Abuja Tomorrow
By Gowon Akpodonor
WITH the September 6 World Cup qualifiers between Nigeria and Tunisia at hand, Super Eagles Coach, Shuaibu Amodu says Nigerians should not loes sleep on the possibility of his team beating the visiting Cartage Eagles.
Amodu's words of assurance came just as the Assistant Director (Technical) of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), James Peters, hinted yesterday that arrangements have been made for the Eagles to beat the Tunisians. The players will start arriving Chida Hotel, Abuja, tomorrow.
A confident Amodu said yesterday on a radio programme: "I don't see any reason why people should panic about the Tunisians. We went to Tunisia and got a draw and now they are coming to meet us here. We have a team that will cage them in Abuja and I am assuring Nigerians that Tunisia will fall."
Despite the away draw which Nigeria recorded in Tunisia, the Super Eagles still trail their Tunisian counterparts by two points.
The players invited for the encounter, Amodu said, are "big-occasion players," adding that they have what it takes to get the three points which will aid Nigeria's qualification for the 2010 world cup in South Africa.
Amodu is banking on the likes of Joseph Yobo, Dele Adeleye, Onyekachi Apam, Osaze Odenwingie, the Uche brothers (Kalu and Ikechukwu) among others in the match.
Meanwhile, the players will start arriving Abuja tomorrow, according the James Peters, while a full squad is expected to be announced at Chida Hotel on Monday.
