Still on Amodu and the Super Eagles

SIR: Opinion, they say is free and we are all entitled to one. I am not pro-Amodu neither am I a die-hard critic of his but the truth is that it is on record that Amodu was in charge when Nigeria made it to South Africa 2010 whether with Mozambique's help or Tunisia's carelessness.

We have passed through this road before but sometimes we are not good students of history. Bora in 1998 and Onigbinde in 2002 were brought in within a few months to the World Cup but did they perform any miracle? This time around, I am of the opinion that we should maintain the status quo as stability in the coaching crew often plays a significant role as regards posting a commendable performance at a tournament.

Amodu must be supported by all and sundry whether or not he performs creditably at the Nations Cup. The hallmark of a great team is (1) a team that is difficult to beat even when they are at their worst and (2) A team that achieves results whether or not they are playing well, etc. The Super Eagles already possess these characteristics. I agree they can be better but we must embrace patience as a virtue!

Ayodele Oloyede,

Lagos.
