EURO Global Foods and Distilleries Limited (a member of the Sona Group) has lost one of its staff, the Director of Administration, Mr. Olukayode Ayodeji Oloyede. He died in an auto crash on Monday, December 17, 2012, when he was on his way to Idi-Oroko on official assignment.

Aged 57, the late Oloyede was born on November 12, 1955 at Ijebu-Ode to the family of the late Chief Emmanuel Oluwole Oloyede, an Egba man, and Chief (Mrs.) Beatrice Ayinke Oloyede, an Ijebu woman.

He started his primary school at St. James’ Anglican Primary School, Benin in 1963 and completed it in 1967 at the Methodist Primary School, Oshodi, Lagos State. He had his secondary education at Ebenezer Grammar School, Abeokuta between 1968 and 1972.

On completion of his secondary school education, he worked as a clerical officer in Post and Telegraph, later known as NITEL, between 1972 and 1978. He enrolled with the Institute of Marketing London where he obtained a diploma in marketing. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan in 1978 and bagged a degree in Psychology in 1981. He obtained his Master’s in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at the University of Lagos.  He returned to NITEL and became an Assistant Manager where he met his wife, Mrs. Mabel Ohi Oloyede and their marriage was blessed with four children.

In 1992, Mr. Oloyede moved over to Sona Breweries as Human Resources Manager and was later promoted as a Corporate Affairs Manager, a position he held till 2010 when he crossed over to Euro Global Foods and Distilleries, as the Director of Administration, a position people testified he handled effectively and diligently till the time of his death.

A delegation from Euro Global Foods and Distilleries Limited, comprising the Director of Sales, Mr. Felix Aighobahi and Insurance Manager, Mr. Anthony Biachi, among others, paid a condolence visit to the family in Abeokuta on Friday, December 28, 2012.

Consoling the aged mother and wife on behalf of the company, Aighobahi said: “The late Oloyede was friendly and dedicated to his duty. As Administration Director of the company, we worked together in Sona Breweries and met again in Euro Global. He was very hard working; his death is very painful. We assume that it is the will of God. The company’s message to the family is that they should maintain his legacy. Oloyede was so loyal; he was never proud; he faced his job and was never involved in any unnecessary politics. He had God first in his mind and that fear of God helped him. That is why we are here today. We wish the family should take same step and even do more than him. Nobody will stay forever; it’s painful.”

Oloyede’s wife of 25 years, Mabel Ohi Oloyede, appreciated the company for the visit.

Oloyede was buried in his compound after a funeral service on Friday, December 28, 2012 at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Ijeun in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He is survived by his aged mother, Chief (Mrs.) Beatrice Ayinke Oloyede; his wife, Mabel; three boys, a brother and sisters.
