The last week of a year and the first few weeks of a new year are times when most people reflect on the changes they would want to make in a new year. Celebrities are not left out. Most of them revealed that they even pen resolutions they would want to adhere to. But whether they eventually keep the resolutions is a discussion for another day. Some top Nollywood celebrities share their New Year resolutions.

Jackie Appiah:

I have dropped 2012 into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go for it was imperfect and thank God that it can go. Thank God too that I can learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow. 2013 is a year of doing more good to Africa and the world as a whole, giving a big helping hand to the needy. I have a vision of a world where every neighbour is a friend.

Chioma Akpotha:

Well, to be honest, I am yet to draw up a list of resolutions for the new year reason being that I am still basking in the joy that my family and I made it into the New Year. But I know what I will definitely not be doing this New Year. I will not procrastinate. I will move on impulse and won’t lay down my head to rest for the day until that which I have set for the day is done. In other words, I intend to work harder than the year past. I do also wish be more dedicated to my family and my work and respond to my instincts more than ever before. Also, when I draw up a proper list of resolutions, I shall let you know and hope to do that before December 31 2013.

Nse Ikpe Etim:

I try not to make New Year resolutions, especially as these days, they have become quite a cliché. However, when I do make them, I try my hardest to make sure I keep them. For instance, at the start of 2012, I decided to make a more conscious effort to eat healthy, and I’ll be carrying that over into 2013. I personally think it’s best to not have expectations and simply take every day as it comes. I do hope 2013 gives me a reason to smile everyday and as for the rest, I’ll just let God lead.

Grace Oma Amah:

New Year Resolutions ought to be personal agreement with God on certain things one would like to drop by way of habits and things that could be sustained through the grace of God. Under normal circumstances, such resolutions are not supposed to be public declarations. But if one does not state his or her resolutions publicly, it would appear as if the person has no plan for the New Year. There are resolutions that are made on December 31 night and by January 2 the preceding year, such resolutions are already forgotten. Well, my resolution this year is simply to serve God and never to depart from his ways. I have in time past taken human beings for their words and made commitment to them and later got myself hurt. Never again will I give room for the deceit of people who “promise to build bridges even where there is no river”. My major ambition in life is to serve humanity through my calling. I have done something in the last decade in the entertainment industry, but I want to use this new year to reposition myself and properly locate those who are actually in need and provide services to them through my foundation. Having returned fully to the industry after nursing my son for two years, I will be embracing the new developments in Nollywood from acting to endorsements and promoting the cause of the needy. I look forward to a greater future in the New Year and thank my fans for standing by me. Together we shall build our country Nigeria and give hope to the hopeless.

Mahmood Ali Balogun:

I really do not make resolutions. Every year, I strive to stay focused from the very start of the year; and barring any hiccups in the polity, I have year in year out tried to maintain that focus from the beginning to the end. Of course, with prayer and hard work and so this year won’t be any different.

Kiki Omeili:

I haven’t generally been faithful to resolutions in the past so I will make New Year decrees instead. The decrees I speak about are decrees of blessings and favour. Also I would love to carry over my hard work and focus of 2012 into 2013

Amaka Ainoji:

Well I wouldn’t say I have made resolutions, but what I have mapped out for this year are short-term and long-term goals broken into sections and attitudes or habits that can help me achieve them. So, that is the kind of list I have drawn up. I however do not want to carry over the level of work-related stress that I went through last year. I want to have so much fun while at work. So, anything that can bring excessive stress and pressure in my job died with 2012. I want to maintain my drive, tenacity, never-say-never attitude and my dependency on God.  Well, I have so far been faithful to my outlined goals and for 2013, I expect to achieve a whole lot as an actress, writer and producer,

Iyobosa Olaye:

I do not make New Year resolutions because most times, it is hard to keep them; I think its better to be flexible when making decisions. But since we are talking about resolutions, some mistakes were made last year out of impatience, and this year, I have resolved to be more patient with God helping me. My expectations for 2013 are high. For me, it is a year of total recovery of all that was lost and delayed. I expect to advance greatly in my career and probably settle down.  I expect to be more patient and grow in wisdom, better health and prosperity by God’s grace.
