SENATE Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, has reaffirmed the sound health status of the Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke, dispelling rumours gaining ground that the governor was dead.
In an annual Christmas and New Year Central Senatorial District meeting where all the six local councils under the district met in Obubra recently, the Senate Leader stated: “The governor was well and healthy when I visited him recently at his house in the United States”.
He explained that Imoke, who is also from the Central Senatorial District, has been receiving all the news about his death and was amused with such rumour.
In his words: “I have seen Senator Imoke recently. I saw him in his house and we ate eba (garri) together. So, the story that is going round the Internet that he is living with his relatives in the United State is false rumour and when I arrived, the first thing he asked me is, ‘have you come to see if I am dead?”
According to Ndoma-Egba, the governor told him that he came to rest and also use the opportunity to go for medical check-up, noting that “you don’t need to be sick before you go for medical check-ups. I do check-up once a year and I encourage every one of you to always do a check-up.
“The fact that we are doing check-up does not mean we are sick and I will like to say this, he is amused by the rumour of his death”.
