Some parents in Jigawa State have decried what they called sabotage of the free girl’s child education by some local council chairmen who have not been living up to their bidding in ensuring that the students are transported back to school as at when due.

Governor Sule Lamido had initiated a policy whereby every girl child of Jigawa State origin would have access to free education from primary to university level. The various local councils are saddled with the responsibility of transporting the students back to school after each holiday.

Some parents who spoke with The Guardian in Dutse charged the governor to take action on those sabotaging the policy.

They said that some council chairmen were exposing their children to unnecessary hardship due to negligence of duty on their part.

The parents who spoke to our reporter condemned the recent action of the Dutse Local Council Chairman, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Dankofa, whom they accused of leaving their daughters stranded at the local government secretariat on the day they were to return to school after their holidays.

“They said the chairman failed to sponsor the return of female students to their respective schools after the expiration of their holidays last weekend, he concluded.
