FOR all women that had kept their stories buried, hidden deep down in the abyss of their hearts, covered over and protected by job perfection or perfect clothes and life, Bunmi Alaga, a health and fitness consultant has given a voice through her book, Wholesome.

During the book launch recently at Industrial Avenue, Lagos, she spoke tirelessly on the struggles that the womanhood suffer in the office, at home and in the society.

The Canadian bred graduate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toronto brings the issues surrounding women into forefront by using her journey from a place of pain to wholeness. She uses the book as a platform to share her experience so that women can identify their struggles and see that they are not isolated in it.

In the book, she also exposes the subtle lies that hold women captive while using God’s word as a standard to replace these lies.

Wholesome is a book written not merely for women but for a generation that is grieving to understand who they are, who God is, where God is taking them and how to deal with the brokenness in their lives.

However, she encourages women to look beyond the opinions of others and see themselves the way God sees them. The last and only girl of five children, Alaga desires to see women live their dreams and to be all God intended for them. She says Wholesome approaches the topic of inner healing from the perspective of understanding God’s love and knowing one’s identity in Christ.

Through real life experience, Alaga digs deep into the soul, addressing the often raw and vulnerable issues of the heart. From low self-esteem to abuse, failed relationships to emotional ups and downs and even loss or abandonment, Alaga through Wholesome openly tells the secrets of a woman’s heart and exposes the shame of pain, trauma and brokenness.

Her experience of God’s love reflected in the content of the book. She has witnessed the comfort of the Holy Spirit and victory in areas of her life where the enemy has sought to bring discouragement, disillusionment and death.

“The enemy has tried to steal from me, but God’s love has proved to be stronger. My personal journey of accountability to Godly authority throughout my process of healing and commitment not to walk alone has afforded her the right and authority to speak about many of these hard topics we face as women,” she explains.

A degree holder in Theology from Layperson’s Bible College, Toronto, Alaga is also a speaker in churches and women’s conferences.
