• To appoint 15 judges, 20 magistrates

GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has approved council elections in the state for April 27.

A statement by the Chairman of Imo State Electoral Commission (ISIEC), Teddy Obi Akwari, in Owerri at the weekend said nomination papers could be obtained at the headquarters of ISIEC at 21, Orlu Road, Owerri.

In another development, the state government has said it would approve the appointment of 15 new judges and 20 magistrates soon, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Soronnadi Njoku, has said.

Speaking in Owerri yesterday, Njoku said the arrangement would help reduce the current workload of serving judges, adding that the state government had been working hard to make the job of judges easier by providing them with brand new Honda sports utility vehicles.
