THE presiding judge of an Ilorin Area Court, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulquadri, will on Wednesday hear an application filed by a 30-year-old man, Suleiman Mohammed, of Ojagboro area, in Ilorin, seeking the dissolution of his two-year-old marriage on the account of his wife’s arrival late at nights.

Abdulquadri had last Thursday fixed the date for possible reconciliation or further hearing after the applicant had told the court that his wife, Silifat, was a liar and insincere to their union.

The applicant, who informed the court that their marriage was contracted in 2011 and blessed with six-year-old Muftau, said his wife was fond of telling lies to justify her late nights.

He said: “My wife tells lies to justify her lateness whenever she is back from market.

“I cannot imagine a housewife coming home around 11.00 p.m., claiming it was due to business without considering her husband at home.”

Suleman had also told the court at the last sitting that his wife was fond of insulting his parents, citing an instance when she called her mother a gossip, when she attempted to mediate in their misunderstanding.

But in her defence, Salifat said she keeps late nights because she was the only one responsible for the family’s needs since her husband was not responsible.

Salifat, who told the court that she was not ready for any divorce for the sake of her only child, prayed the court to reject her husband’s prayer.
