IT was a gory scene yesterday along Odo Oba Road in Ogbomoso as three persons lost their lives in a multiple auto crash involving a fully loaded truck and an 18-seater commercial bus.
The accident, according to an eyewitness, occurred when a fully loaded tanker coming from Oyo/Ibadan end ran over the commercial bus coming from Ilorin/Ogbomoso at a sharp bend along Odo-Oba village five kilometers to Ogbomoso.
The Ogbomoso Unit Commander of the FRSC, Adedipe George, who confirmed the incident, said three persons died in the accident while nine others sustained injuries.
George disclosed that the incident involved three vehicles; two tankers with registration numbers XB 476 AKK with inscription Conoil (DAF), XS 732 AGL and a Toyota 18-seater bus which were all burnt to ashes in the incident.
He disclosed that 23 people were involved in the accident; 21 males and two females, saying that three people were killed while nine others were injured.
The FRSC boss, who blamed the incident on dangerous driving, appealed to drivers to always obey road traffic rules and regulations to avert road traffic accidents.
Officials of the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) were also on hand to offer rescue operation and ensured that the property of the victims were not tampered with.
The spokesman of NEMA in the South West, Ibrahim Farinloye, stated that the scene has to be cordoned off while traffic was diverted to alternative routes.
