IN order to reduce the effects of natural disasters in school environment in Ondo State, the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has begun a collaborative effort with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to sensitise stakeholders on how to manage emergency situations.
Already, a training workshop on how to reduce loss of lives and property during emergency cases or natural disasters was organised during the weekend at Alade-Idanre. It was jointly sponsored by the UNICEF B-Field office and SUBEB.
SUBEB Chairman, Femi Akinmoladun, who explained the rationale behind the collaboration of his board with the global body, said at the workshop that the two-day training was aimed at raising the consciousness of stakeholders as it pertains to security of lives and property.
Participants at the workshop included members of the school-based management committee and school administrators in the state who were drawn from all the 18 local councils of the state.
“It has become imperative to sensitise stakeholders on various emergency responses as the world is prone to danger while emergencies happen without notices,” Akinmoladun said.
