PROMOTING film tourism in Nigeria is one of the reasons for the introduction of 84 inches cinema television into Nigerian market by a global leader in consumer electronics, LG Electronics.
Falling loosely under the umbrella of cultural tourism, film tourism is a growing phenomenon worldwide, fueled by both the growth of the entertainment industry and the increase in international travels, which encourage film tourists to visit destinations that appear in the movies.
According to tourist experts, the study of film tourism is relatively new in tourism research. Sometimes, it’s called movie-induced tourism in which tourists visit such destination or attraction as a result of the destination being featured on television, video or the cinema screen.
Tourism professionals noted that the benefits of film tourism are becoming apparent, which offers something excitement for everyone, just like the films themselves.
According to the General Manager, Home Entertainment division, LG Electronics, Mr. Dave Shin, additional businesses and services could be created through film tourism, which LG 84-inch television has come to encourage.
He noted that the industry is driven by innovation, adding that the product is equivalent to four units of 42-inch TVs, which delivers picture resolution of 2160p with enhanced 2.2 speaker system that delivers sound output of 50W.
“This landmark is a pivotal moment in TV history because UHD 4K technology makes it possible for consumers to enjoy clear picture quality. It offers quadruple detail of a full HD 1080p unit, with eight million pixels,” he added.
For the Managing Director, Fouani Nigeria Limited, Mr. Mohammed Fouani, the television’s triple XD engine comes with a TruMotion of 240 Hz with fast screen refresh rate, which ensures proper viewing of fast movies and sports.
“We hope that the launch of this TV would not only enhance the growth of the entertainment industry in Nigeria but would go a long way in encouraging Nigerians to embrace the power of in-depth and consistent technological innovations from LG’s stables,” he said.
He stated that tourism professionals seek to tap into millions of audience, who use social media television cinemas to promote film tourism, adding that such innovation would promote the country’s films tourism.
Fouani explained that with combine LG’s Slim and narrow bezel design, it provides the convincing 3D viewing experience available outside movie theatre, which makes the viewers feel like part of movies.
