GOD showed Joseph, one of the 12 children of Jacob, what was to happen in the future; how he would be elevated to leadership position and become head of the family.
As a result of this, his brothers hated him and conspired to exterminate him. But the Lord confounded them: rather than kill Joseph, he was sold into slavery. They thought they had destroyed the dream. But the Lord was with him: “One night, Joseph had a dream and promptly reported the details to his brothers, causing them to hate him even more. “Listen to this dream,” he announced. “We were out in the field tying up bundles of grain. My bundle stood up, and then your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before it!” “So you are going to be our king, are you?” his brothers taunted. And they hated him all the more for his dream and what he had said” -Gen. 37:5-8.
Another problem arose in his master’s house. Joseph was handsome. His master’s wife made several attempts to seduce him. He bluntly refused all the advances because he feared God. (Gen. 39:5-12) Consequently, Joseph was implicated and thrown into prison. Again, the Lord was with him (vs 21-23). In confinement, he became known for his accurate interpretation of dreams. There was an event where he was requested to interpret King Pharaoh’s dream. It was an opportunity that catapulted him to the position of second-in-command.
“Pharaoh said to Joseph, you shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you. So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt”. Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.” (Gen. 41:16-42)
Shortly after the fulfillment of Joseph’s dream, there was a great famine, which made his brothers come to Egypt for food. They could not recognise him any longer. He, however, recognised them. Eventually, they bowed down to him, according as he had dreamt.
One notable thing about Joseph was that he always found favour wherever he went because God was with him. Often times, some people worry about enemies in their marriages, offices, business, etc. The fact that people are against you does not mean you should be depressed or frustrated.
All that will rise against you this year will become steppingstones for the fulfillment of your God-given dreams. If Joseph had ingested any poison while he was in prison or when things went awry, he would not have risen to the position of authority.
Their plots could not stop God’s appointed plan. You do not need to worry unnecessarily because of the enemy’s plot.
