SMARTING from increase in sale of its brand in the global market, Bentley said it has already concluded plans to introduce bulletproof cars into the world’s market.

The automaker company said it was now considering offering the option direct from the factory.

Besides, many automakers already offer armored cars, including most of the German luxury makes, as well as, Jaguar Land Rover, but currently Bentley customers looking for a little protection have to consult with aftermarket firms such as German’s Stoof International or Russia’s ArmorTech.

According to investigation report, strong demand for armored cars, particularly in emerging markets such as Latin America, the Middle East and Russia, has got Bentley considering launching its own range of armored cars.

Speaking with The Guardian International, Bentley’s Finance Chief, Jan-Henrik Lafrentz, confirmed that the automaker was investigating the business case of building armored cars, and that such a move would likely help the brand’s expansion into emerging markets.

“Bentley wouldn’t have to look far for experts capable of bulletproofing its cars as several fellow Volkswagen Group brands already offer the option.”

Bentley’s tradition of hand-building cars would also be ideal for armored car construction as most of the necessary modifications are typically made by hand.

Specific elements required for armored car construction include hot-formed armored steel, aramide fabric, ceramics, special alloyed aluminum and multilayer glass.
