THE Catholic Bishop of Kano Diocese, Bishop John Niyiring Namanza, has urged Christians in the northern part of the country not to loose hope because of prevailing insecurity in the region.
The Bishop, who spoke to The Guardian in a telephone interview, described the birth of Christ as a credible platform for humanity to hope.
He also urged faithful to pray for political leaders, so that they might comprehend the enormity of the security challenge, and work together for a solution.
Namanza expressed gratitude to God for His mercies, in spite of the crises.
Meanwhile, the Jigawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commended Governor Sule Lamido for maintaining peace and stability.
State Chairman of CAN, Rev. Damina Sule Ibrahim Taura, disclosed this in his Christmas and New Year message.
Taura enjoined members to live in peace with their Muslim neighbours.
He also expressed appreciation at mutual understanding between Christians and Muslims in the state, voicing optimism that the situation would be sustained.
