  Respite For Pig Farmers As Forum Convenes First Meeting -280609
The National Pig Farmers Forum was held on Friday in Lagos, at the Agricultural Development Authority's office, Oko Oba, Agege, on how to move the sub-sector forward. The programme was said to be to improve contact with farmers and assist them to have a voice that would get federal government's attention.

Moves To Certify, Ensure Free Flow Of Seeds Underway -280609

Free flow of seeds for planting among ECOWAS countries is to be expected soon if the modalities being worked out to that effect become operational early. This was disclosed at Umuahia last Wednesday at the opening of a two seed technology training workshop for extension officers and coordinators of Green River Project (GRP) of Nigeria Agip Oil Company in the rural communities of Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers states.

  Scientists Find Soy Variety Resistant To Fungal Infections -280609
A new soybean variety that resists the deadly Asian soybean rust, a fungal disease that could wipe out up to 80 per cent of crops in infected fields, has been released. The rust-resistant variety is the first of its kind to be made available for cultivation in West and Central Africa.
