Sporting Clube da Praia Cruz officials hit Lagos today

Players and officials of Warri Wolves have vowed to roast their opponent in this weekend’s CAF Champions League, Sporting Clube da Praia Cruz of Sao Tome and Principe for valentine celebration.

Wolves and Enyimba of Aba will fly Nigeria’s flag in this year’s CAF Champions League.

It was learnt yesterday that officials of Wolves opponent are expected to arrive Lagos today. Sporting Clube da Praia Cruz, which plays in the Sao Tome and Príncipe Championship has won eight national and six island titles and is the third team in history to claim its first title in 1982. The team currently plays in the island premier division.

An official of Warri Wolves told The Guardian yesterday that they would not give the visitors any breathing space in Sunday’s game, which is the first leg of the encounter. “We have recruited good players for this season and I am sure we will do well in the CAF Champions League. I will use Sunday’s game to tell our fans that we are ready,” the official said.

The match will take play as the Warri City Stadium on Sunday, February 14 (valentine day). The secretary of Warri Wolves, Lawrence Omoghor is expected in Lagos this morning to receive the visitors.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Warri Wolves, Moses Etu has received support from members of the Nigeria Professional Football League Media Managers Forum ahead the match.

Etu, a member of the forum was appointed chairman of the Club a month ago and China Acheru, Chairman of the Media Managers Forum says it is his belief that the Warri Wolves boss will succeed at the club.

“I have known Etu since 2002 and one thing no one can fault in him is his desire to succeed,” Acheru said.

“He is very emotional about the game and expresses it in different way many may not understand but you cannot fault his commitment.

“As a member of the Media Manager’s forum before his recent appointment, we really wish him the best and believe that the zeal he showed in his time as media manager of the club to succeed will be doubled now he is chairman.

“It will also boost the chances of some of us in the Media Manager’s forum who believe they can do better jobs if given the opportunity to serve in higher offices,” Acheru said.

“I have spoken with members of the forum and we are united in one stance that we want Moses Etu to succeed as chairman of the club and we believe he will,” he added.
