Stop criticizing Oliseh, says Nwosu
FORMER Super Eagles striker, Henry Nwosu, has called on football fans across the country to stop castigating coach Sunday Oliseh, saying that such habit is capable of affecting the team’s chances of qualifying for Gabon 2017 African Cup of Nation.
Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Nwosu stated that what Oliseh needs at this point in time is total support and encouragement from football loving Nigerians to beat Egypt and get the maximum points in the race to Gabon.
He explained that Super Eagles team B early exit from the Africa Nations championship (CHAN) in Rwanda was not enough to write off coach Oliseh.
However, Nwosu has charged Oliseh to select players who are hungry for success for the double-header game against the Pharaohs of Egypt next month.
He added that sentiments in his selection of players might jeopardize the nation’s chances of winning the qualification ticket.
Nwosu also urged the Eagles handler to instill tactical discipline on the players saying: “At this stage, all football stakeholders in the country have to support Oliseh because criticism won’t do us any good as the Eagles prepare to do battle with Egypt.
“People should realize that the coach is human and unnecessary criticisms is capable of disorganizing his plans. I want to also advise that getting the right players to battle Egypt should be Oliseh’s target. The Super Eagles need to be in Gabon next year to prove that Nigeria is still a force to recon with in Africa soccer,” Nwosu stated.
