INTERNET service provider, Spectranet, has revealed its commitment to broadening the scope of its service to reach more consumers.
The firm gave the indication at a press briefing to announce its rebranding and the various projects lined up for consumers in 2016.

Speaking during the briefing, the Chief Executive Officer, Spectranet, David Venn, said that the firm was also planning to develop SIM card-compatible data plans for low income earners which could be sold a very low price and could be used with phone SIM cards instead of modems.

Venn stated that the firm was working with the Nigerian Communications Commission to achieve its plan of improving broadband penetration, promoting information and computer technology operations and optimising the use of spectrum.

Venn said although Spectranet was an indigenous company without international shares holdings, research in the past one year had revealed that Nigerian consumers did not know much about the firm.

He said, “We plan to change that and reach more consumers this year. We have been doing a lot of our billings in naira because of the foreign exchange situation in the country and we are looking at more ways to get raw materials locally.

“We have increased our base stations in Lagos, Abuja and other parts of Nigeria and the plan is to have all our customers within 500 meters of their base stations so that they can enjoy faster and stronger signals.
