Alhaji Bature Masari, the Director-General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), has urged Nigerian youths to imbibe the culture of entrepreneurship in order to check the high level of unemployment.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Mr Ibrahim Kaula, the Head Corporate Affairs of SMEDAN.

Masari spoke when officials of a youths organisation, “Dogara Youths Vanguard’’ paid him a courtesy visit.

He noted that the challenges of unemployment could best be tackled when the youths keyed into various enterprise development and skill acquisition training programmes being organised by SMEDAN.

“Your best option as young men and women is to imbibe the entrepreneurship skills and development of business ideas through a variety of programmes offered by SMEDAN.

“This will help you employ yourself and provide jobs for others instead of waiting for government employment,’’ Masari urged the youths.

He noted that youths in the country were very creative and full of business ideas which required proper guidance and marshalling to develop into enterprise opportunities.

Masari assured the youths that SMEDAN was willing to support, guide and hand-hold them to be self-reliant through entrepreneurship engagements as long as they were willing to help themselves.
.

The group honoured Masari with a certificate of credence for his contributions to the development of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Earlier, the leader of the group, Mr Godiya Adams said that the award was in recognition of the exemplary leadership of Masari .

Adams said that the group would partner with SMEDAN to explore mutually beneficial programmes of the agency with a view to enhance the socio-economic well-being of the Nigerian youths.
