Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins will enjoy one of his biggest pay days when he joins Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, as he will pocket twice what he was earning at MLS side, Seattle Sounders.

The 31-year-old Martins was on $3 million at Seattle Sounders, making him the second highest earner at the MLS club behind US international Clint Dempsey.

However, the striker paid almost half of that as taxes.

“Martins will earn between 3 and 4 million US dollars in China and this will be free of any taxes,” a source specially disclosed to Mtnfootball.com.

“This will be one of his biggest pay days.

“The striker is now all about the cash especially as he has got his green card in America.”

It was further gathered that the former Newcastle United star has agreed a year’s deal with Shanghai Shenhua with an option for another year.

Meanwhile, a relatively unknown Nigerian striker Emmanuel Okoye was the hero of his Cypriot top flight league team Paphos as he scored a brace in a 4-1 trouncing of Ayia Napa.

Okoye netted in the 17th minute to level scores at 1-1.

He went on to complete a brace with a goal in the 38th minute to give his team a 3-1 lead.

The striker ended his goals’ drought with a brace on Sunday after he failed to find the back of the net in 19 previous games.

The 24-year-old striker has played for Panionios(Greece) and Aris Limassol(Cyprus).

Nigeria defender Rasheed Alabi was not dressed for Paphos as he was serving a match ban due to red card.
