THE president of Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Student (PANS), Benjamin Idiakhoa, has called on students of University of Benin (UNIBEN) to put in their best to come out with good grades.

This call was made when the student leader and Ezekiel Efeobhokhan visited the Operations Base Manager of PAN Ocean, Engr. Monday Ikureigbe, during the week.

Idiakhoa also called on the students to positively impact on others and their immediate society, saying that it is the only way the society can move forward.

He said: “Many students blame their inadequacies and poor performance in school on their parents and guardians, but they do not know that there are different opportunities in the school for them to do something positive and as well excel in their studies.”

Speaking on how students have been overcoming their difficulties, especially finance and academic, Ikureigbe, said, “in the past, students partook in extra work. They worked during the holidays to get money for the next academic session, but today, for one reason or the other, it is no longer so. Instead of trying to salvage whatever they can get from any situation, we find them paying unnecessary visits to friends during their free period.

“I am not condemning this, but when one plans ahead, knows what he/she is about to face in the nearest future, he/she should know what his/her priority should be,” he said.

Ikureigbe, however, encouraged the students to engage in entrepreneurial activities while in school, stating that people like that are the ones who graduate to be employers of labour instead of waiting for the government job.
