The Director, FUTO’s Institute of Erosion Studies and the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the event, Prof. Cosmas Ahiarakwem, told The Guardian that the programme, will be the first international conference, to be held and organized on the subjects by the Institute.

According to Prof Ahiarakwem, the theme of the event: “Effective Watershed Management for Environmental Hazard Control/Mitigation in Nigeria”, would address issues of flooding, erosion, climate change and agriculture and food security core, the subjects that had been synthesized into 18 well-researched topics to be delivered by the experts at the workshop/conference.
