AS the crisis rocking the Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) continues to fester, some politicians of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fold are getting set to join the party, it has been revealed to The Guardian.

Former Minister of Health and a PDP chieftain, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, is said to be preparing to leave the umbrella and embrace the broom symbol of the APC, sources within the camp of the politician have disclosed.

This is coming on the heels of the litigation instituted by the state chairman of the APC, Ben Nwobashi against his Deputy, Eze Nwachukwu at an Abakaliki High Court where he accused him of illegally parading himself as the chairman of the party.

The former Minister who got international recognition for his proactive measures while in office, to curtail the menace of Ebola Virus in Nigeria, was said to be the preferred candidate of former governor, Martin Elechi, in the last gubernatorial election, on the PDP platform before the incumbent, David Umahi, allegedly outsmarted him.

A close source from the camp of the Afikpo-born politician who claimed anonymity revealed that every arrangement have been put in place for his defection to APC in a colourful ceremony that will take place in Abakaliki, the state capital before the end of the month.

According to the source, the ceremony will attract party
chieftains across the states of the federation including the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigwe-Oyegun.

Speaking on the development, Nwobashi said that APC is a big party that is ready to accommodate every Nigerian adding that their door is wide open for anybody in the state that wishes to join the party since they are the platform that is bringing the desired change to Nigeria.

According to him, “All Progressive Congress (APC) is a big family that will accommodate all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation. People across the states are joining the party because the party is effecting changes that are repositionng the country and here in Ebonyi State, the party’s door is open for anyone that wishes to enter.”

On the suit against his Deputy that is threatening the unity of the party in the state, Nwobashi said that the hearing will be coming up on the 9th of February at a High Court sitting in Abakaliki adding that he is asking the court to restrain his deputy from parading himself as the state chairman of the party by granting media report or raising memos with the name and or on behalf of APC in the state.

He noted that since the suspension of Eze for alleged anti-party activities in 2015, Eze has continued to parade
himself as the state chairman of party; an avenue the embattled deputy chairman has been allegedly using to extort money from the unsuspecting members of the
public.

The chairman alleged that Eze has been writing several letters to stakeholders of the party in the state for
financial assistance, thereby warning the public to stay away from the alleged impostor “because Nwachukwu Eze is never the chairman of APC in Ebonyi State”.

Reacting to the suit against him Eze insisted that he is the chairman of the party in the state noting that now that the matter is in court he will wait for the judgment to be delivered.

He said, “That you were served with a suit from the court does not mean that a judgment has been delivered. It is a sign of ignorance for anybody to think otherwise”, adding that “Nwobashi has been removed as chairman of the party since May 4 2015 by the State Working Committee (SWC).

The party which has been embroiled in crisis since after
its congresses in April, 2015 that produced Nwobashi-led executive has three state offices operated by Nwobashi and Eze.

The same mind set that has put the Igbos where they are currently in Nigerian politics. Please speak for yourself alone, you are just one Igbo out of millions.

We are not beggars. We are not in any bad position. It is stupidity that makes any President to imagine that he can exclude the Igbos. Such an one is rather digging his grave. Igbos is a bone in the throat of all of you. You can not swallow us neither can you vomit us. Look, know it that we hold the four aces. Only the Igbo Biafra can manufacture Air Craft Brake that can be used in the North East and soon, the entire body and engine will be manufactured in Biafra. For it to get to Nigeria from Biafra, it is import and Export. No place for APC in the East. I re-echo his statement.

Oyegun can take residence in the East, that will never change the minds of Ndi Igbo about APC. It will look as if we are begging Buhari to recognize us if we join APC. It is has become customary for any one who fails in PDP to jump over to APC. It is a dumping ground for irrelevant politicians whose popularity has expired. These are lazy politicians who can not stand challenges in politics. They want where they will steal and receive protection.
