College plans scholarship for indigent students

Grace High School, Gbagada, Lagos has finalised plans to give some indigent students scholarship to cover their stay in the school throughout the period of their senior secondary education.

The Administrator, Mrs. Tokunbo Edun, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos, said the school would also organize a scholarship award examination for students from public schools in Lagos as part of the 2016/2017 entrance examination scheduled to hold this month at the college premises.

According to her, the candidates with excellent result in the entrance examination will compete for the scholarship awards out of which two leading candidates will get the award which the school has been running annually for over 13 years.

The administrator recalled that since inception, financially constraint but academically talented teenagers in the society have been given award yearly from SS I – III. It is a way in which the school tries to help the less privilege in society whose children will get access to the quality education which their parents could not afford.

The administrator disclosed that about 5000 candidates are expected to take part in this year’s entrance examination because as she put it “Grace High School has become a leading brand in secondary education in this country”.

Also speaking during the press briefing, the principal, Mr. Ronald Cilliers, said the excellent facilities available in the school and the well motivated professional teachers have enhanced the performance of the children in public examinations thereby making the school the preferred choice of enlightened parents.
