PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari yesterday began a short vacation to last till Wednesday, February 10.

The notice of the vacation was contained in a three-paragraph statement by his Special Adviser Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in Abuja.

According to the statement, while the President is on vacation, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, will perform the functions of the President.

The decision is in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), Adesina stated, noting that the President had since dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

This is the first time since he was sworn in on May 29, last year that the President would be officially taking a vacation.

Buhari has come under severe criticism from some Nigerians over his frequent foreign trips lately.

There are reports that he would during the vacation attend to his health abroad.

The first president to go on holidays and hand over to the deputy.

He did not handover power. Presidents don’t hand over power when they go on vacation. The VP is not the president and cannot act as president except he takes the oath of office as president. There may be burial ceremonies, birthdays and flag offs that the VP can attend on behalf of the president but that is all.

Keep dreaming ,sadness and wickedness has a way of giving the person sickness in his bone marrow that cannot be healed. He is old and with terminal illness, forget it.Those in Departure Lounge can only last as long as it takes their Plane to arrive, these days they come very quickly. If it is only him that can fight corrupt in nigeria then we are not serious,he is not the one that formed ICPC,EFCC,CCT,CCB,ETC .Someone got Bode George imprisoned, someone chased James Ibori to his destiny in U.K.

I have not heard anywhere in the world a new president will be going on official vacation merely after uneventful 8 Months in office.Buhari has been talking down on all Nigerians calling them stupid, useless and corrpt ,as if he is not a nigerian too.
Buhari should come out to accept that his terminally sick and may not be able to function effectively in office as president ,instead of wasting our time.He has been hiding to hospital and the last medical report by the U.K Professor got him alarmed, all these some Nigerians know since though.
We have a 78year old president that is not very healthy was foisted on the nation with mirade of problems that require vigour and lot of energy too to tackle.

If ever it has anything to do with seeking medical treatment abroad, we still need to critically look at this. Our successive governments have not seen anything wrong in this, which is rather tragic. Most serious-minded world leaders have their medical treatments in their countries. It should be seen as a national pride. I recall Nelson Mandela. Everything about his treatment was done in South Africa. Our legislators desperately want to acquire Prado SUV. They are not bothered about evolving our own brand of automobiles. They are unaware that their patronage will shore up the bottom-line of the Prado company and add value of the economy of their country. Probably, they momentarily forgot our Naira is going down also. We really need to sit down and think!

The making of a constitutional crisis. The president is not on vacation period! Who in this modern era can take a 72 hour vacation including travel time? If the president was on vacation he would take more time for relaxation and recreation. The president is probably going to undergo a medical procedure that is routine but nothing a president does is routine. I don’t like Buhari but I wish him well.
