Ali Baba, Julius Agwu To Headline Pat Utomi’s 60th Birthday Gig

THREE of Nigeria’s top comedians set the Shell Hall of MUSON Centre in comic fireworks last Sunday, January 31 when Prof. Pat Utomi turned 60. Ali Baba, Teju Babyface and Julius Agwu who was compere ensured the large audience had a good laugh all through the evening.

THREE of Nigeria’s top comedians set the Shell Hall of MUSON Centre in comic fireworks last Sunday, January 31 when Prof. Pat Utomi turned 60. Ali Baba, Teju Babyface and Julius Agwu who was compere ensured the large audience had a good laugh all through the evening.

Friends, family and business associates had come to celebrate with former presidential hopeful who was flanked on both sides with his wife, Dr. Ifeoma Utomi and five of his children.

Chief (Mrs.) Opral Benson, Chief Rasak Akanni Okoya, Nollywood actor Mr. Fred Amata and many others were among those who had come to felicitate with Utomi. After Opral Benson said the opening prayer, the evening rolled off with comedy and music by the popular Res Lawson Band from Port Harcourt which pelted the audience with the late Lawson’s famous tunes.

A documentary film on Utomi’s early years and how his former classmates, friends and family see him through his rise over the years was shown top spice up the occasion.Utomi whose parents are from Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Council of Delta State was born in 1956 in Kaduna.

He had his primary education at St. Thomas School, Kano (1960-1962), Our Lady of Fatima, Gusau (1962-1966), Christ the King College, Onitsha and secondary education at Loyola College, Ibadan. He graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1977, where he studied Mass Communication. He later proceeded to Indiana University, Bloomington, U.S. Also, he was a Scholar-in- Residence at the Harvard Business School and the American University in Washington DC.
