160 to swing at DOAMF charity tourney as corporate sponsorship swells

All is now set for the tee-off of the 2016 edition of the Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation (DOAMF) Charity Golf Tournament, which is holding tomorrow at the golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938.

Already, over 160 players have already signed on in the tourney, which also had a pre-qualifier. The 18-hole tourney will employ stroke play as format. Prizes will be presented to winners later in the evening at a cocktail party, which will also feature interactions with sponsors and donors.

Some of the sponsors include, PricewatershouseCoopers, Diamond Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, ARM Pension Managers, Arik Air Limited, Channels Television, Radial Circle Group, Cappa &D’Alberto Plc, SPAR (Park N’ Shop), Southern Sun, Four Points by Sheraton, and Ikoyi Club 1938.

According to the chairman of the tournament’s organising committee, Pat Bassey, the different levels of support offered by corporate and individual sponsors will go a long way in helping the foundation touch more lives.

“We feel very honoured that these business concerns and individuals see our efforts at bettering lives as a worthy cause to support. And, as we have done over the years, we will be accountable whilst also reaching more people in need” he said.

Since DOAMF was founded over six years ago, about 57, 000 lives have been touched of which 9,000 were reached in 2015 alone.

“We get to do all these by applying the funds raised from the golf event, and that is why we value every measure of support we get from corporate organisations, groups and individuals,” Bassey added.

The DOAM Foundation is a charitable, humanitarian, and non-governmental organisation established in 2006, in memory of Master Daniel Ogechi Akujobi (1992-2005), who died from injuries he sustained in a fatal highway accident on his way back to school along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State. He was the only son of his parents.

DOAM Foundation is dedicated to the enhancement of the education and health of less-privileged children and youths in the society. Since its establishment, it has offered scholarships to a number of vulnerable but intelligent children in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. It has also undertaken various life-improving programmes including de-worming of children, mentorship, educational, nutritional and psycho-social support to children and youths in the society.
