The Technical Director, Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Anderson Bankole, on Sunday urged players to give their health utmost priority for improved sporting outcomes.

Bankole told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that players could only engage effectively in table tennis if they had good health.

“There is nothing greater than being in good health; it is only a healthy person that can do sports.

“I urge players to go for medical check-up regularly, as sometimes, when we do not go for it, we will not know when something is going wrong in our body.

“I do not see how someone who is not healthy can be involved in sports; doing sports involves stability and energy.

“There is nothing like managing health when it comes to sports and I am an advocate of taking absolute care of oneself,’’ he said.

According to Bankole, sportsmen also need healthy meals to aid their performance.

“They need to eat healthy foods to keep fit and this will include more fruits in their diet.

“ They should ensure that they do not miss their breakfast; breakfast is one meal of the day that should never be missed; breakfast keeps one going all through the day and it awakens one’s mental ability.

“ It also sets the body moving for the day,’’ Bankole said.
