Rotary holds symposium on ethical revolution
THE Rotary International District 9110 Nigeria will tomorrow hold a symposium in Lagos on ethical revolution and good governance. The symposium will be addressed by the past District Governor of the club, Adeniji Raji.
Speaking on the programme, Adeniji said: “It is a symposium on ethical revolution and good governance in Nigeria. Nigeria is really at the bottom in terms of ethics in our daily life. There are bribery, corruption and the general indiscipline in our society. We know the efforts every government has made since 1976. In 1976 General Muritala Muhammed retired many people over corruption.”
“Even in 1979 constitution, there was a section on ethic. Civil servants were asked to declare their assets and there was a tribunal called Ethic Tribunal for Public Servants. In 1984 and 1985, Buhari introduced WAI War Against Indiscipline before then Shagari also had ethical revolution, which didn’t work.”
