Feyisetan Are, Technical Director, Nigeria Amputee Football Federation, says participation of the body in the maiden national F5WC Five-A-Side tournament in Lagos will be “a dream come true’’.

Are, who made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos, said there had been dearth of competitions in the sport.

He expressed the hope that the competition would kick-start the year on a good note.

NAN reports that the national final of the F5WC tournament comes up on Jan. 16 to Jan. 17 at the Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos Island.

Sixteen teams of seven each from different parts of the country would converge on the venue for the two days of football hostilities.

The tournament is powered by Olympic Milk and endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Lagos, Ogun, Kano and Kaduna Football Associations.

Are said: “We are happy that we will play an exhibition match at the competition. This is one of our dreams for the federation.

“Many people do not have the privilege to watch amputee football and it will be an eye-opener to many who have not seen the game.

“With this exhibition, it will help to increase the interest of the public view which can support or fund the federation in terms of sponsorship’’.

F5WC Five-A-Side is one of the series of football competitions sponsored by Fivesports Company and it is the nation’s first truly Pan-Nigerian Five-A-Side tournament.
