Although the MMR event took place last year December, one of the highlights of the MMR week was the MMR Fashion Entrepreneurship & Investment Forums. The event took place at the Eko Hotel, on the 15th of December, 2015. Expert speakers joined budding fashion entrepreneurs at a networking event. The panel includes Tonye Cole (MD Sahara Group), Mo Abudu (CEO Ebony Life TV), Tara Fela Durotoye (CEO House of Tara International), Mai Atafo (CEO Mai Atafo Inspired), Bukky Karibi-Whyte (Founder The Bobby Taylor Company), Elohor Asien (CEO Beth Model Management), Joseph Edgar (MD Aquila Assets Management) and Jennifer Olize (Founder Music Meets Runway). 

The forum event was part of the offering from the MMR Foundation – providing entrepreneurs with further opportunities to explore business success and promotion.

Tonye Cole gave general advice about running a successful business, while Mo Abudu talked about being a serial entrepreneur and her media venture, Bukky Karibi-Whyte talked about applying publicity to a start up business, Tara Fela Durotoye was able to share her wisdom on the realities of running a beauty business, Mai Atafo spoke about menswear and the fashion industry in the general. Elohor Asien discussed being in  the modelling industry, Jennifer Olize discussed the insights of running a huge event like Music Meets Runway and the challenges faced and Managing Director of Aquila Capital Mr Joseph Edgar discussed on investing your finances.

Jennifer Olize, Founder and Creative director of MMR; a speaker at the forum giving advice about running an event, said: “We wanted to use this opportunity to give people the opportunity to talk to experts about the realities of running a fashion or other business – what it involves, what it takes, the challenges and how to overcome them and also financial and investment advice. Business networking and the sharing of expertise is always very useful and hopefully the participants were able to get a lot out of taking part in our forum.”
