The Police on Tuesday arraigned a bricklayer, Samuel Chigozie, 20, at a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court in Aso Pada, Nasarawa State for allegedly stealing building materials.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, told the court that the accused, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.

Adaji alleged that the complainant, John Ameh of Aso Pada in Mararaba on Jan. 24 reported the matter at the Aso Pada Police Station. He told the court that the accused on Jan. 23 at about 4:00 p.m. broke into the complainant’s apartment while he was at work and made away with his wheelbarrow, two shovels and two head pans.

Adaji alleged that the accused was caught in the act by the complainant’s neighbours. The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 348 and 287of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The Presiding Judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum. He adjourned hearing on the matter until Feb. 4.
