A 20-year-old bus conductor, Temidayo Adebayo, was on Tuesday docked over the theft of a Bajaj motorcycle valued N95,000, property of one Mr Sharafadeen Ishola.

Adebayo, a resident of No. 8, Momoh St., Tabon Tabon, Agege, a suburb in Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told the court that the accused and two others still at large stole the motorcycle with registration number AKD 867 QD. Ajebe said that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 22, at about 4.45a.m., at Dahunsi Close, Agege, Lagos.

He said the accused and two others were intercepted on the motorcycle at Agric Road, Oko-Oba, Agege, but the other two escaped.

“The accused was arrested by a team on patrol led by Insp. Jelili Oyegbola attached to the Abattoir Police Station, Agege.

“The motorcycle was later traced to Ishola as the owner,” he said Ajebe said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum. He adjourned the case till March, 7 for trial.
