Rivers gunmen kill three policemen, injure four
UNIDENTIFIED gunmen yesterday killed three policemen, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), as the victims tried to prevent the hoodlums from attacking the family of Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser to the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah.
The Guardian gathered that the armed men engaged the police in a fierce gun battle after receiving a distressed call from Needam whose residence was attacked yesterday morning. The compound and vehicles therein were riddled with bullets after the assailants had forcefully gained entrance.
An eyewitness who preferred anonymity disclosed that the incident lasted for about two hours.
According to him, at the end of duel, three policemen lost their lives while two other officers and Needam’s security guard sustained varying gunshot injuries.
The victims, it was further learnt, were taken to a private hospital in Port Harcourt for treatment.
Reacting, Needam said the hoodlums were sent by his political opponents who desperately wanted him silenced following his strong political views and penchant for speaking the truth.
He, however, expressed faith in the state Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo’s ability and that of the police command to investigate the matter and fish out those behind the assassination attempt on his life and entire household.
He commended the prompt response of the police to the distress call and their demonstration of professionalism during the encounter.
Needam also expressed gratitude to God who saved his life and that of his family as well as to his friends and well-wishers, who on hearing the news of the condemnable incident, called to show concern and wished him God’s protection.

This is the handiwork of APC and Amaechi gang in Rivers State must you take life and shed blood because of political power that is transient!
This callous shedding of innocent blood is not necessary and is absolutely in contrast to the will and fear of God. The APC cant win everywhere. If they are not popular in the south south, they wont be overnight.
Governor Fayose’s 2016 prophecy is already coming to fruition.
We will review and take appropriate action.
