Mr Bishop Ezike, a Lagos-based music producer, has called for collaboration between musicians and Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) to curb piracy in the industry.

Music-equipment-(1)Mr Bishop Ezike, a Lagos-based music producer, has called for collaboration between musicians and Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) to curb piracy in the industry.

Ezike, who manages Obiano Music, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that online music works could be protected if ISP’s block access to unauthorised persons.

“ISP’s have a mechanism through which they block users access, especially during network traffic.

“It is expected that such platform can be used to protect copyrighted content from being downloaded by fraudsters,’’ he said.

The music promoter, who decried the loss of royalty singers incurred through piracy, called on the internet providers to help the music industry to grow.

According to him, the emergence of internet comes with its attendant impact in all sectors but it is the duty of the actors to shape the tide in a way that it will benefit society.

Ezike also advised stakeholders in the music industry to liaise with ISP’s in the fight against piracy to enable intellectual property owners reap from their work.

He said the war against intellectual property stealing if won would further encouraged upcoming music talents.
