350 self-sponsored Christian pilgrims arrive in Nigeria

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) says the last batch of the self-sponsored pilgrims has arrived in Nigeria on Sunday night via Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Mrs Charlotte Ajuya, Assistant Director, Human Resources in the commission, told newsmen in Abuja that the commission had a successful pilgrimage through 2015.

She said that the last batch had 350 self-sponsored Christian pilgrims from different states, mostly from the northern part of the country, observing that none of the pilgrims absconded.

“I want to encourage them that pilgrimage is a spiritual fulfilment that when you go, you renew your spiritual life.

She further advised them to share the experience they had in the holy land with other Christians to serve as a source of encouragement.

Mr Makpa Malla, a legislator in the Nassarawa State House of Assembly, who led the delegation, said that the experience was exciting.

“The most striking sight was the Garden of Gethsemane and I believe it was a determining moment for Jesus Christ because it was at that point he took a decision,’’ he said.

He pleaded organisations, companies and churches to sponsor the less privileged to pilgrimage for spiritual revival.
