The Senate on Tuesday said it would support the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem with N2.18 million.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, who disclosed this at plenary said that each of the 109 senators would contribute N20, 000 to generate the amount.

He said that the contribution was part of the lawmakers’ contribution in honour of the nation’s fallen heroes.
Saraki recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had launched the emblem and appeal fund as a mark of respect, and to identify with families of the late heroes.

“We are all expected to wear this emblem on the 15th of January, 2016, the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

“The Senate has resolved to request N20, 000 only from every senator towards this appeal fund.

“The office of the Senate Leader will see to the collection of this amount and ensure that each senator gets an emblem,” he said.
