LASACO Assurance Plc, has given a boost to education through donation of ultra modern information and communications technology equipment to the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu.

Making the presentation in Enugu recently, the Group Managing Director of Lasaco Assurance Plc, Sola Ladipo-Ajayi, stated that as a risk management organisation it behooves on it to partner government to fund education. According to him, as a pragmatic company, our definition of insurance goes beyond the orthodox of insuring life, goods, and other assets, to us supporting education is another fund of insurance with good dividend for the society at large.

He pointed out that education is too germaine for the common good and therefore its funding should not be left to government alone, stating that the ability of any nation to make giant strides is tied to sound and quality education of its citizenry.

According to him, the socio-economic life of the country stand to gain tremendously when government and the business world collaborate in funding and supporting education, and urged other corporate organizations to follow suit.

He said, when corporate organizations invest in education, it also stand to benefit in form of good research findings that can be turned to marketable product, and access to pool of quality human assets that can drive its operations for good market success.

“We are motivated to donate ICT equipment because of our believe in what it can do.
Our successes as a company in the recent times received great inputs from application of technology to our operations”, he pointed out.

Receiving the donation which includes 50 units of desktop computers, central processing units (CPUs) and uninterrupted power supply (UPS), the Rector of the institution, Dr. (Mrs.) K.B. Sofoluwe, thanked Lasaco Assurance management for its kind response to the school’s clarion call for assistance, particularly in replacing the school’s obsolete ICT equipment.

She stated that the institution management is working tireless to restore its lost glory of being first of its kind in the entire West African sub region, disclosing that the entire West African countries got their foremost dental practitioners trained in the institution as far back as when it was operating from Lagos many years ago.

Mrs. Sofoluwe acknowledged that the reach out strategy of the management to the corporate world is paying off with Lasaco Assurance generous response, urging other corporate organizations to come to the school’s aid. She disclosed that the donation will further prepare the institution for its quest to be upgraded to a degree-awarding institution.
