THE Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, yesterday, reiterated that Islam is a religion of peace, which abhors acts of terrorism.

The revered religious leader also charged all Nigerians to expose any cleric indoctrinating people into any act of terrorism, urging Muslims to educate their children to prevent youths from being recruited into terrorism and insurgency.

The Sultan said this while presiding over the turbaning of the Grand Imam of Ekiti State, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, as the President General of the League of Imams and Alfas in the Southwest, Edo and Delta States.

Addressing Muslim faithful and adherents of other faiths, who thronged the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado Ekiti, venue of the turbaning, Abubakar urged Sheikh Kewulere to galvanize other Islamic clerics to work together and preach against terror, which is giving Islam a bad name.

Dignitaries at the event include Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, represented by his wife, Feyisetan; Ondo State Governor Olusegun
Mimiko, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo; Secretary
General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede; Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Revd. Felix Ajakaye, among others.

Expressing delight with unity that exists among Muslims and Christians in Ekiti, the Sultan said the presence of followers of the two faiths to ensure the success of the occasion was a good lesson for everybody to take home.
Condemning terrorism in strong terms, the Sultan said tackling the menace is a task that must be accomplished, urging Muslims not to hesitate to fish out those he described as “bad elements” engaging in acts not supported by the religion.

The Sultan said, “We know what Islam is presently facing, most especially with the issue of terrorism; we know this is not an Islamic agenda and the biggest challenge facing the President General is to bring all Imams, Alfas and Ulamas to brainstorm on how we can stop our children from participating in anti-Islamic activities.
“As teachers in Islamic studies, we want you to teach our children what Islam is and what Islam is not. Imagine a 10-year-old involved in suicide bombing and killing, this has no place in Islam and has no basis in our religion.”

This is what baffles me. Many Muslims pay lip service to the word PEACE. If ISLAM is a religion of PEACE, where did the terrorists get the scriptural materials that guide them? The Sultan did not quote portions of the Quran to buttress his message.

Oh…. indeed. Well, Sultan, can you explain the meaning of the commentary below by a sufi master of the 18th century on the meaning of the poll tax, the commanded tax upon all non muslims who must pay the tax to support Islam. Can you please explain this brainwashinging evil and how this evil has nothing to do with Islam. I submit that you, who are commanded to submit me, and ‘all others’ under Islam, are a fraud, and a liar who is actually excusing the vanguard homicidists with your diversion.

    ————————

the 18th century Moroccan Sufi “master” Ibn Ajibah from his Koranic commentary. Describing unabashedly the purpose of the humiliating Koranic poll tax [6] (as per Koran 9:29 [6]) of submission for non-Muslims brought under Islamic hegemony by jihad, Ibn Ajibah makes clear the ultimate goal of its imposition was to achieve what he called the death of the “soul”, through the dhimmi’s execution of their own humanity:

[The dhimmi] is commanded to put his soul, good fortune and desires to death. Above all he should kill the love of life, leadership and honor. [The dhimmi] is to invert the longings of his soul, he is to load it down more heavily than it can bear until it is completely submissive. Thereafter nothing will be unbearable for him. He will be indifferent to subjugation or might. Poverty and wealth will be the same to him; praise and insult will be the same; preventing and yielding will be the same; lost and found will be the same. Then, when all things are the same, it [the soul] will be submissive and yield willingly what it should give. [Tafsir ibn ‘Ajibah. Commentary on Q9:29. Ahmad ibn Muhammad Ibn ‘Ajibah]

It’s absurd to claim Islam abhors terror. Muslim’s most admired and exalted hero, Muhammad, bragged:

“I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers…” Koran 8:12

“I’ve been made victorious through terror ” (Bukhari 4:52:220)
