Street sweepers in Lagos State should all be re-assigned to our markets to keep them clean. They can also be deployed to Bus Stops and central business district in Lagos downtown where people only walk and cars are either at snail speed or parked. Making these women sweep highways and byways is not deserving of any Nigerian. There are motorized street sweepers that LAWMA could buy and deploy to sweep our highways and heavy traffic streets at night between 10pm and 4a.m. Exposing Nigerians to danger such as what happened here is unnecessary and does not show respect for human lives.
I can verify that hundreds of these women have been killed on our roads by dangerous drivers all explained away as being an accident, brake failure etc. A Nigeria should not be exposed to avoidable danger irrespective of how much money is paid to such a worker. Let us stop this madness. God grant the poor woman eternal rest, if she had committed any sin, may she be forgiven.
