Engaging new officers into its fold would aid the board to discharge its duties in a more effective manner has announced that the implementation of adhesive stamps would commence early 2016 and that it had engaged new officers

BARRING any last minute hitch, all is set for the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) to commence the implementation of adhesive stamps policy.

According to the board chairman, Elder Williams Odudu, the new policy would take off early 2016, which is expected to follow every report produced by registered estate surveyors and valuers throughout Nigeria.

Odudu reiterated this last week in his Lagos office while receiving the team of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), United Kingdom, led by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Mark Walley.

According to Odudu, the new policy is part of the measures to checkmate quackery and infiltration by non-professionals into the realtors’ fold.

Similarly, the estate surveying regulators has also gotten a new registrar and other officers, as part of the retooling process for effectively manning the daunting task of the board. The new registrar, whose tenure commences January 1, 2016, would be taking on the day-to-day running of the board, after the current registrar, Mr. Thomas Audu’ retirement.

Speaking the new adhesive stamp policy, Odudu said: “Very soon, by early in 2016, we will introduce adhesive stamp system, every report which is produced by registered estate surveyors and saluers must carry stamp of the registration board, and this stamp is only issued to members that we can vouch for.

The chairman said that in the spirit of repositioning the practice of estate surveying in Nigeria, the board had introduced three cardinal books including: “Code of Professional Conduct for Estate Surveyors and Valuers and Explanatory Notes, A competency Framework for Registered Estate Surveyors and Valuers and Valuation Reporting Template” adding that, the documents will enhance the delivery of credible and competent professional services to the public.

Before announcing the newly engaged officers, Odudu, who first appreciated the efforts of the outgoing registrar, said there should not be vacuum, hence the board had ratified that Mr. Ifeanyi Fidelis Uzonwanne to become the new registrar in the new year.

Uzonwanne, who until his appointment was the board’s assistant registrar in its Lagos office, is a 1992 graduate of estate management from the University of Nigeria (UNN). Other new appointments and as approved by the board are Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Shehu Oyeteju Janet, an estate surveyor, Assistant Registrar (Lagos), Ikre Felix, an estate surveyors and Assistant Internal Auditor, Mr. Oladehinde Francis.
