THE newly appointed Chairman/Special Adviser, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Booyamin Ayodeji Tinubu, has promised to take sports in the state to an enviable height.

Tinubu, a trained production engineer, one-time chairman of the defunct Lagos State Sports Council, said his tenure would redefine sports management.

Praising the former Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Social Development, Mr. Wahid Enitan Oshodi for driving Lagos’ sports to an enviable height, Tinubu said he plans to raise the bar even higher.

According to him, “our scheme is to take sports to another stratosphere in Lagos, where there will be new introductions and additions to the existing sports programmes. He said things would be done differently to achieve better results.

The former executive member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said Lagos must go back to celebrate its local heroes in order to serve as motivation for the upcoming athletes, adding that Lagos athletes must be engaged through mentoring, counselling and teaching.

“The potential of what is achievable is verse and immeasurable. Lagos has the potential to excel in sports. Members of staff who are carrier sports officers and administrators should be prepared to work hard for any meaningful achievement and accomplishment,” he said.
