Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has urged judges and lawyers to support the executive at all levels in ensuring the success of the war against corruption.

Amosun, who spoke during special church and mosque services held to commemorate the commencement of new legal year of the state judiciary, said the executive alone cannot successfully pursue the war against graft without the active support and collaboration of the bar and bench.

The governor also assured judicial officers in the state of his administration’s determination to improve on their overall welfare in order to nip corruption in the bud.

The church service heralding the 2015/2016 legal year of Ogun State Judiciary was held at the Cathedral of St. Peters, Ake, while the mosque service took place at the Central Mosque, Kobiti in Abeokuta.

Amosun, while congratulating the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade, judges, retired judges and other judicial officers in the state for a job well done, said that the present administration would continue to improve on the overall well-being of officers even in the current economic situation in the state and country in general.

“A lot would be done to improve on the welfare of our judicial officers in the state. Government alone cannot fight corruption to a standstill. We need the active support of the Bar and Bench to nip the cankerworm in the bud”, he said.
