Installation ceremony of Rotarian Alex Ajibo as the 29th World Class President of Rotary Club of Okota as well as induction of the Board of Directors and launching of the club’s star projects for the 2015-2016 service year took place at Rotary International Centre, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Ajibo said in line with the theme for the Rotary year: “Be a gift to the World”, his administration would touch the six areas of focus of Rotary International by embarking on development of facilities in various schools, donation of books and award of certificates among others under basic education and literacy.

Others include distribution of drugs and provision of instructional manuals on malaria as well as sharing of treated mosquito nets to boost disease prevention and treatment.

“Basically, we shall embark on refurbishment and reconstruction of Isolo Health Centre, sponsor two indigent students and visit motherless babies home with presents, organize school debates and quiz competition between selected secondary schools in Isolo/Oshodi local government area, organize de-worming of children between the age of one to six years among others” he said.

In his valedictory speech, the immediate past president, Rotarian Kamal Ola’ Opoola, enumerated projects carried out during his tenure to include donation of five sewing machines to the indigent students of Nigeria Union of Tailors in a vocational school as a means of encouraging and empowering them in their skill acquisition for self-entrepreneurship, polio walk/awareness to improve awareness on the need to eradicate polio in the community and Nigeria and unveiling of 4-Way Test Bill board for information to the public about the club, Rotary and the lessons of 4-Way Test.
