Africa heavyweight Pro wrestling champion, Nigeria’s Godspower Peace Ikpide, popularly known as “De Great Power Lee,’ has vowed to teach his challenger from Angola, Marvelous Buffalo, a bitter lesson in their November 1 contest tagged, ‘Battle of Asaba.’

Power Lee, a native of Owhe in Isoko North local Council of Delta State, on September 19 defeated Michel Noudem of Cameroun at the Palais De Sports Centre in Yaounde to win the title.

With the ‘Battle of Yaounde won, Power Lee says he would do everything possible to put smiles on the faces of his people (Deltans) and all Nigerians in the November 1 contest, which will also attract professional wrestlers from Egypt, Congo DR, Cameroun, Ghana and Benin Republic. International officials are expected from the Pro Wrestling body in Glasgow, Scotland. The fight will take place in the Indoor Sports Hall, Asaba.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Power Lee said he would use the belt to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the creation of Delta State, which was carved out of the old Bendel State in 1991.

He declared that if he got the support he needed from the Federal Government, Delta State Government, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Isoko Development Union, the visiting Angolan, Buffalo, will get the ‘punishment’ he will never forget in his entire life.

He is expected to present the prestigious African continental belt he won in Yaounde to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa soon.

Power Lee has been Nigeria’s heavyweight pro wrestling title holder since December 2010, beating all those that came his way.

“Now that I am the African title holder, much more is expected of me, he said yesterday. “But I can only achieve my dream of holding on to the title on November 1 if I get the support I need from my people.”

According to the policy of Pro Wrestling organisation, Power Lee is supposed to defend the title on October 18, which is one month after winning it. But the intervention by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Cameroun, Ambassador Hadiza Mustapha, saw Pro Wrestling Africa moving the date to November 1.
