Chinua AchebePan African Writers’ Association (PAWA) will hold its 22nd International African Writers’ Day and Conference from November 5 through 7, 2015 with Nigeria’s with the life and times of Chinua Achebe in focus. The late pan-African cultural exponent will be honoured at the African writers’ gathering. The event has as theme ‘Celebrating the Life and Works of Chinua Achebe: The Coming of Age of African Literature?’ To lead the focus on Achebe will be the staging of Nigeria’s Prof. Femi Osofisan’s adaptation of two of Achebe’s novels into drama.

On November 5, an adaptation of Achebe’s A Man of the People by Osofisan titled The Discombobulation of a Rookie Patriot will be staged at Ghana’s National Theatre from 7.30pm. The conference opens proper on November 6 at Accra International Centre at 9am. On November 7, Osofisan’s adaptation of Achebe’s Arrow of God titled Arrow of God, The Wounded Man takes centre-stage also at National Theatre, Accra. Time is 6pm.
