NSE’s All-share index slides by 0.6 per cent

EQUITY transations on the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed on a downward note yesterday, occasioned by price losses suffered by major blue chip companies, as market capitalisation depreciates by N59 billion. Yesterday, market capitalisation of listed equities fell by 0.57 per cent to N10.330 trillion from N10.389 trillion traded the previous day.

closed on a downward note yesterday, occasioned by price losses suffered by major blue chip companies, as market capitalisation depreciates by N59 billion. Yesterday, market capitalisation of listed equities fell by 0.57 per cent to N10.330 trillion from N10.389 trillion traded the previous day.

Also, the NSE’s All Share Index fell by 172.76 basis points to 30058.40 from 30231.16 recorded the previous day. Investors for the day traded 124.242 million shares worth N1.377 billion in 2930 deals against 134.616 million shares valued at N1.475 billion in 2900 deals.

An analysis of the transactions showed that ‎ Seplat Petroleum Development led gainers table, growing by N6.00 to close at N235.00, Mobile Oil followed with a gain of N1.50 kobo to close at N151.50 kobo, Okomu Oil increased by N1.40 kobo to close at N29.40 kobo, Nestle Nigeria Plc appreciated by N0.67 kobo to close at N830.67 kobo and Flour Mills Nigeria Plc N0.63 kobo to close at N22.00.

On the Contrary, ‎ Dangote Cement topped losers chart, shedding N3.00 to close at N164.00, Nigerian Breweries trailed with a loss of N1.50 kobo to close at N136.50 kobo, UAC of Nigeria declined N1.44 kobo to close at N27.46 kobo. Guinness Nigeria Plc fell by N1.30 kobo to close at N151.20 kobo while Forte Oil depreciated by N1.00 to close at N263.99 kobo.

Further analysis showed that ‎ Access Bank Plc recorded the highest volume of activities, exchanging 15.530 million shares worth N79.054 million, Fidelity Bank Plc followed with 14.194 million shares valued at N20.835 million, Zenith International Bank traded 13.108 million shares worth N220.243 million, United Bank for Africa sold 12.980 million shares worth N56.794 million and FBN Holdings exchanged 7.525 million shares cost N46.151 million.
