THE Gombe State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Haruna Kamara, has given an ultimatum of two weeks to the state government to pay all teachers their outstanding salaries.

Kamara, who gave the ultimatum yesterday in Gombe while speaking during the 2015 World Teachers Day celebration, said failure to comply with the directives, the Congress will take decisive action to ensure that all outstanding salaries meant for teachers are paid. He, therefore, called on members not to relent in doing their legitimate duty effectively.

Also speaking at the occasion, the state Assembly Speaker, Alhaji Nasuru Nono, said that in an effort to improve the education sector in the state, the House has approved the sum of N11 billion for the payment of outstanding salaries of teachers in the state.

The Speaker, who was represented by Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Education, Mohammed Bello, said that the aim of approving the money was to ensure that all outstanding salaries that are yet to be paid by the government to teachers are paid.
