Defending champions, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, will begin the defence of the FIFA U-17 World Cup title they won in the UAE 2013 on Saturday with a game against the United States. The match will hold by 9.00 p.m.
According to the fixtures made available to The Guardian, before the Golden Eaglets’ game against the U.S, England will meet with one of Africa’s other representatives, Guinea, in the opening game by 8.00 p.m. Nigerian time, while Brazil will battle with Korea Republic by 11.00 a.m.
Nigerian followers of the championship can get all the games on StarTimes channels.
Then Golden Eaglets have won the U-17 World Cup four times and have played in the finals for a record seven times. The Eaglets have also scored the second highest goals in the history of the competition with over 150 goals.
The African teams slated for the Chile 2015 U-17 World Cup are Nigeria, Mali, Guinea and South Africa.
Speaking on the broadcast plans for the championship, StarTimes Public Relations Manager, Israel Bolaji, said at the weekend “the live transmission of the games has been done in such a way that Nigerians can follow all the games of the competition without much hassles.”
According to Bolaji, “Apart from the games, we will broadcast other highlight events at the competition, as well as behind the scene happenings.
“We expect the Golden Eaglets to do well in the competition, which is why we have planned some interesting outside the pitch events to entertain our subscribers before and after every game.”
Side by side with the U-17 World Cup, Bolaji revealed that StarTimes’ core sports events, including the German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, French Lique 1, the Dutch and Belgian leagues will resume this weekend after the conclusion of the European qualifiers.
“We are sure our subscribers enjoyed all the matches of the Euro 2016 qualifiers, which we broadcast live on our channels and we want to assure them that the best league in the world, the German Bundesliga, will be back on our channels live and better than anything they are used to,” he added.
